Kindred of Travelling Robots

June 09, 2018

Does your child absolutely love building with Lego?  Conjuring up wondrous spaceships, hybrid creatures, wheeled homes, perhaps even making her own movies?  Building and programming Lego robots takes our imagination to another dimension – to the magical land of “living” Lego.

In Bervie, we have been busy making travelling robots.  Our robots have driven, waddled on two legs, hopped and crept on four legs.  It has been a blast watching the children’s imaginations come alive, sometimes creating mini-movies with their robot and props.  Our robots don’t always work the first time but we learn from our attempts and make our robots even more amazing!

In August 2018, we will be running a series of classes at the Aberdeen Science Centre where your child will discover the engineering concepts behind travelling robots, create their own robots and program them using the fantastic Scratch software.  Scratch allows for an extremely rich STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) experience: a hybrid of robotics, animation and game creation.  Interested in the August course?  Registration is open 🙂

In the meantime, enjoy the snapshot below of travelling robots in Bervie…
